As it is, this isn't done yet, but I'm making sure I submit a basic build in time to meet the jam requirement. Will be updated over the course of today and this month.

AS IT IS: THIS IS CURRENTLY JUST A TEST! Gun works, stats work properly. Read below for how it will eventually work and a detailed breakdown.

Eventual vision:

You are a science officer aboard a trade vessel passing a Gravastar. On the way, your cargo begins to emnate a bizarre glow. Alarms go off, and you're pulled in through the surface. As your crewmates mutate, you hop in your escape shuttle, grabbing your suit of plate metal armor and trusty backpack.

As it happens, the ship has crash landed on a rocky desert planet, the hull slamming through the hollow upper crust and into an alien, underground grotto. Amidst the underground are the wreckage of other ships that have met a similar fate. A mysterious benefactor, dressed in Knight's armor much like yourself, has left you a pistol and some supplies.

Survivors walk through the darkness. Some are like you, still sane. Others have inhaled too much of the Fungal Underground's spores, and have lost their identity and sanity as they've become connected to the hivemind. Buried here are temples, shipwrecks, and artifacts of previous civilizations.

Survive as long as you can by scavenging for supplies, fighting off the maniacs, lighting fires, and exploring the landscape.

Current controls/abilities/tools. Scroll to switch tools:

  • 1: Interact (not functioning atm)
  • 2: Bedroll (not functioning atm)
  • 3: Gwesher9 - a basic 9mm pistol. Comes unloaded. R to take the mag out/put back. E to load mag when mag is taken out. E to rack slide when mag is loaded. Can jam - E will also clear jams. Pressing E while a round is loaded will eject the round onto the ground! AH! Right click to Aim Down Sights. Aiming has a small degree of error and bullets have some drop. Not aiming vastly worsens your aim.
  • 4: Canned food, consumable (not functioning atm)
  • 5: Soul Gems (not functioning atm)
  • 6: Firewood (not functioning atm)
  • Tab: Opens and closes inventory list.
  • G: Opens "Moss Sense". This allows you to see enemies through geometry, improving as your spirit worsens. However, this exhausts your mind to use.
  • Ctrl: Crouch
  • Space: Jump
  • Shift: Sprint

Stats:

  • Mind: Your level of exhaustion. You will eventually need to sleep. Completely depleting this stat will injure your HP and cause you to drift in and out of consciousness.
  • Body: Your physical stamina. You will eventually need to eat. Completely depleting this stat will prevent you from sprinting or jumping, and take HP damage.
  • Spirit: Your sense of spiritual self. As you inhale the toxic Fungal Spore air of the Banished Planet, your spirit diminishes, worse at night. Depleting this stat will cause you to start taking HP damage. Additionally, this will improve your Moss Sense as you become increasingly connected to the Fungal Underground Hivemind. Cleanse yourself by standing near fires, consuming soul gems, or finding Waypoints.
  • Health: Decreases as you take damage, or if you deplete any of your core stats.
  • Time of Day: Affects light, as well as how much Spirit damage you take, and how quickly your mind tires.

Coming Soon:

  • Explorable Fungal Underground Zone: Enemies roam, items must be scavenged for, and waypoints must be activated. How long can you survive?
  • Synth Soundtrack
  • Working toolset, scavengable items
  • Enemies that stalk and shoot you
  • Encounterable friendly characters that join you around your campfire and various waypoints you activate, giving you further teases of the world.
  • Exit after 3-5 ingame days?
