No Time Limit, Receipts, and Open Doors - Alpha 0.48
Keepsake County (in Beta) » Devlog
Some doors are opening this update! Both physically and metaphorically. Major changes and fixes for The Neighbors Alpha 0.48 include:
- Doors and windows now have an unlock indicator on each side to show just how far through the lock you've gotten.
- There's a roughly 50-50 chance that an unlocked door appears at the exterior, while some windows are also unlocked. Some interior doors are unlocked, even...
- Window frames are now blue
- Players can now easily pick to restart or return to the main menu at the score screen
- An itemized, scrollable receipt of all your ill-gotten gains now appears at the end of each round, to describe what you stole, who you sold it to, and how much you got for it!
- For our speedrun-happy players, there's a Midnight Special for getting in and out under a minute.
- The hard 4 minute time limit is now removed - players can take as long as they want burgling a house. HOWEVER:
- The sun still rises at 4 minutes, and you incur a drastic financial penalty by sticking around during the day. We may have to call the police at a later update...
- Updated cop walking animations - we're nearly done with animating him
- Fixed hands appearing when walking inside of a ladder's radius while carrying a bulky object
- Car now freezes in place upon exiting. There's still some logic we're correcting here unfortunately, but it shouldn't skitter or screech away upon exiting anymore.
- Fixed AI getting stuck inspecting doors
- Removed a couple porch variants that would lead to opening a door to a bunch of furniture
- Fixed issues with restarting the game from the pause menu
KNOWN BUGS:
- Car can still get stuck in collision and in the ground when ramming into stuff
- AI and players can still push the car around
- Doors inside the house occasionally double up on each other
- AI occasionally spawn on furniture
- Porches on the interior elbow corner of the house can overlap
- Tying animation sometimes runs improperly when tying up AI
- Ladder can be pushed around / generally awkward
- Lockpick audio is inaccurate to unlocking a door or window completely
- AI lighting is a little wonky
- Phone dialing audio cue runs very long
- Cops fire slowly
- Visual bug when switching to or from the bag to another tool
