Southern Fried Game Expo + 0.66 Patchnotes
Hello, Keepsake County Players!
Well it's been quite a ride since we launched the beta. We gave away quite a few copies, and we sold a fair number as well. We went to GDC for the first time and met so many lovely people, and we had the sweet surprise of minor viral success on Tiktok. We also, surprise, have a new gamejam coming out this summer, which is mechanically complete and just needs content. But it's been far too long since regular updates, and we need to gear up for more of them, because we'll have finished our landmark second major Beta milestone by the end of July!
Most importantly, we've gotten a huge amount of useful feedback - from in-person testing, beta testers, and eager players. Thank you so much for all your valuable insight and for enjoying Keepsake County! We hope to address as much of it as we can over this summer, starting with this update.
We're also pleased to announce we've been included in the Southern Fried Game Expo, which runs from the 28th - 30th, and held in Atlanta, GA. If you're in the area and plan on attending, you can use the code "INDIEDEV" for 5 dollars off your ticket purchase. See you there!
Anyways, here's this week's update notes. We're headed back to doing this roughly every week or two, so enjoy some very regular patch updates.
Beta 0.66 patchnotes:
Balance Changes
- Stun time increased on civilians to 4 seconds from 1 second, Cop stun time increased to 2 seconds
- The burglar alarm going off at 4 minutes will now only call one cop car instead of two - so only 2 cops will be walking around when the alarm goes off.
- Boosted trampoline jump height by about 5 feet or so. Players can now easily jump onto balconies, straight into windows, on top of 1-story houses, and so on. Trampolines spawned farther from the house should allow the player to still get good height and distance.
- Breakers can now be flipped without the Wirecutters. Wirecutters are still required to permanently cut power.
- Casserole sale price reduced.
- Reduced the amount of ties gifted by the Artisanal Tied Sausage to 1, from 2. We realize this is an incredibly useful item and want to encourage players to try the others more often.
- Radio towers are now climbable. This doesn't do a whole ton for balance, but we realized it was immersion-breaking to not be able to do it, so here you go.
Fixes
- Fixed Master Bedroom chairs on The Babysitter not being grabbable by players.
- Fixed spelling on "A bunch of trophies" item.
- Significantly boosted volume on mud puddles to be at proper full volume.
- Shrunk microwave, fixing a plethora of issues with its hitbox, as well as exploits involved with using it to climb and launch yourself into the air.
Expect another update next week, and much more significant changes going forward as we stretch our legs and get back into our sprints.
Thanks for playing!
